All the Different Parts of My Life Led Me Here

People often ask me how I became a celebrant, and when I look back, it feels as though every part of my life has quietly been leading me here.

For more than twenty years, I built a career in senior leadership, helping organisations create better experiences for their people. My roles were rooted in HR and organisational leadership, but they were always about understanding people, listening to their stories, guiding them through change and creating environments where they felt heard, valued and able to thrive.

Outside of work, I've always been happiest bringing people together. Whether organising community events, researching family history, travelling to experience different cultures, or creating memorable occasions for family, friends and my local community, I've always believed that the experiences we share are the ones we remember most.

Becoming a celebrant has allowed me to bring all of that together. It combines my love of people, storytelling and creativity with the calm, thoughtful and organised approach that has shaped my working life.

For me, celebrancy is never about delivering a script. It is about taking the time to understand who people really are, discovering what matters most to them and creating a ceremony that feels authentic to their story.

Because those are the moments that matter.

How Do I Want People to Feel?

Every ceremony I create begins with that one question. When people feel relaxed, connected and fully present, that is when the most meaningful moments happen.

Everything I do begins with that one simple question. It shapes how I listen, how I plan and how I create every ceremony. I take time to understand your story, your values and your relationships, creating a ceremony that feels authentic, personal and completely true to you.

On the day, my role is about far more than delivering words. I bring a calm, reassuring presence, and I connect not only with you but with your guests, so the ceremony feels less like a performance and more like a shared experience. I read the mood of the moment, making space for emotion, laughter or a little settling of nerves, whatever the day asks for.

A Little More About Me

Away from ceremonies, you'll usually find me doing the things I've always loved most – bringing people together, exploring family history, planning the next adventure or spending time in nature.

I love researching destinations, discovering different cultures and thoughtfully planning memorable journeys. I enjoy uncovering hidden places, creating thoughtful itineraries and thinking about the little details that make a journey truly special. It's all part of creating experiences that people will remember long after they're over.

Whether I'm organising a community event, gathering family and friends around a table or planning a trip to somewhere new, I always find myself thinking about one thing: How do I want people to feel? Looking back, I realise that's been the common thread throughout my life, and it's exactly the same approach I bring to every ceremony I create.

Living in Devon, I feel incredibly fortunate to celebrate in some of the country's most beautiful settings – from the dramatic coastline and Exmoor to elegant country houses, gardens and beautifully restored barns. Wherever the location, it's never just about the place; it's about the people, the atmosphere and the memories created there.

What Working With Me Feels Like

From our very first conversation to long after the day itself, my aim is to make the whole experience feel relaxed, collaborative and genuinely enjoyable. You will be guided at a pace that suits you, always able to ask questions and share ideas. And you will end up with a ceremony that reflects who you are, brings together the people you love and leaves memories you will treasure for years.

Because those are the moments that stay with us.
